台灣的抽象畫發展甚早,早在 1932 年第六回台灣美術展覽會(1932),西洋畫部已經出現了一件,那是本地藝術家黃集榮的作品;莊世和在戰前就投入抽象繪畫的創作,為推廣前衛藝術的理念,他同時努力於筆耕,戰後「國語」更替,他還請了母語為中文的朋友幫忙訂正修改再發表。有著如此先驅地位,他日後或許會被尊稱為台灣抽象畫之父,但事實上,莊世和的地位、聲望、影響力都與其投入遠遠不成比例。
由文化部蒙藏文化中心主辦的「再繪蒙藏-臺灣美術教授聯展2.0」現正於蒙藏文化館展出。本展涵蓋了臺灣不同時代21位藝術家共48件作品,展現臺灣當代多元活潑的創作能量。
